2013 NRBC CHAMPIONS
Thiago Boechat Claims NRBC Open Championship on Wimpyneedsacocktail

The 2013 edition of the NRBC Open Level 4 finals provided suspense, excitement, and paid out a whole lot of cash. The original field of 209 entries had been whittled down to the top 31, all vying for the $75,000 first place prize.

Thiago Boechat and Wimpyneedsacocktail were the second-to-last entry in the finals, and laid down a blistering run with smooth circles, fast spins, and extreme stops. The judges replied with an equally impressive score - a 231.

“He felt very good. Last year we were here and he wasn’t 100 percent, but this year he felt good and when I asked him he gave me 120 percent.” Boechat added, “Winning this - it’s unbelievable. It’s definitely a dream come true.”
Wimpyneedsacocktail is by Wimpys Little Step out of Seven S Mimosa. The 6-year-old stallion is owned by Xtra Quarter Horses of Purcell, Oklahoma, who also owns his sire Wimpys Little Step. “We are so proud of all the Wimpy babies. There were eight in the Level 4 finals and then the top two were Wimpy’s, so that’s is pretty big,” Boechat said following the awards ceremony, where he collected the Level 4 and Level 3 Open titles.

Along with more than $102,899 in prize money, Boechat and Wimpyneedsacocktail earned a year’s use of a 4-horse Featherlite horse trailer from Twin Cities Featherlite, a custom saddle from Continental Saddlery, a custom saddle from Kyle tack, Gist Silversmiths buckles, two pairs of Rios of Mercedes boots, SmartPak gift certificates, product from Santa Cruz Biotechnology, Whisper Bits, WonPads, and a watch from Catena USA.

Jordan Larson and Wimpys Littlecolonel marked a 230 to win the Open Reserve Championship and $54,000. Owned by George Lawrence, Wimpys Littlecolonel is by Wimpys Little Step out of One Right Chic. - NRBC

WIMPYS LITTLE STEP - THE YOUNGEST 4 MILLION DOLLAR SIRE IN NRHA HISTORY
Xtra, Xtra!
A year after achieving the three million dollar mark, Wimpys Little Step slides into another great accomplishment by becoming a National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Four Million Dollar Sire.
This 13-year-old palomino is the youngest stallion to reach this milestone by a margin of six years with a total of $4,028,000 earned by his progeny. He has joined the ranks of Hollywood Dun It, Topsail Whiz, Gunner and Smart Chic Olena!

Xtra Quarter Horses' world-renowned stallion, Wimpys Little Step, reached another million-dollar mark, now naming him a $4 million sire for progeny earnings. In 2011, Wimpy was inducted into the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame and this most recent accomplishment earns him a top five spot in NRHA's stallion offspring lifetime earnings roster and the youngest stallion to reach this earning mark in NRHA history.

Throughout Wimpys Little Step's (Nu Chex To Cash x Leolita Step x Forty Seven) show career, his list of accomplishments grew to include the titles 2002 National Reining Horse Association Futurity Open Champion and 2002 Congress Open Reining Futurity Champion. As a sire, Wimpy's success continued with his first foal crop.

Wimpys Little Chic, from the first foal crop, proved Wimpy to be the only stallion to produce a horse to win the NRHA Futurity, the NRBC and the NRHA Derby. Wimpy is the only stallion to produce a money-earner of more than $500,000, as well as the only NRHA Futurity Champion winner to produce an NRHA Futurity Champion. In 2012, No Wimpy Cowboys, sired by Wimpys Little Step, was the NRBC Intermediate Open Champion and the NRBC Open Reserve Champion.

The $4 million reining horse sire is owned by Xtra Quarter Horses and stands at Xtra's ranch in Purcell, Okla. In 2011, Wimpy was ranked the No. 1 sire of 3-year-old reining horses and was inducted into the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame.

Wimpys Little Step is known as a phenomenon of the reining industry, and Xtra Quarter Horses believes he is not done with his accomplishments yet. Xtra believes there are many more great years to come for Wimpy and his offspring. - QHN

Tanya Jenkins and No Wimpy Cowboys Win NRBC Intermediate Open Championship Tanya Jenkins and No Wimpy Cowboys ran away with the National Reining Breeders Classic Intermediate Open Championship, winning the title by 5.5 points!

Jenkins and her flashy palomino gelding were a crowd favorite. Amidst the cheers and whistles, the pair executed a near flawless run – one that not only won the Intermediate Open title, but was also good for third place in the Open division.

“I have never had so much fun in my life!” Jenkins, of Temecula, California, exclaimed following the awards ceremony. For the Intermediate Open Championship, Jenkins took home a check for $30,612, a saddle sponsored by San Juan Ranch, a Gist Silversmiths buckle, a Whisper Bit, product from Santa Cruz Biotechnologies, as well as the traditional NRBC blue crystal trophies and awards.
She collected an additional $37,000 for placing third in the Open. “I’m very proud of him. I knew he could mark big, but it was just about keeping everything together – and he did. I have a great rapport with this horse. I love him – he’s just amazing,” Jenkins said of her 5-year-old, by Wimpys Little Step out of Dunnits Cowgirl. She added, “I love the NRBC. It’s my favorite show and it always has been.”

The Level 1 Limited Open Reserve title and $1,050 went to Ben Baldus and Dainty Little Step, who marked a 224. Dainty Little Step, a 6-year-old mare by Wimpys Little Step out Tucks Little Poco, is owned by the WT Waggoner Estate.

Wimpys Little Step is the Youngest NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire

Just last May, Wimpys Little Step proved his prowess as a reining horse sire by becoming the youngest Two Million Dollar Sire in NRHA history – by a margin of five years. As of October 2011, he is now officially the youngest sire to cross the three million dollar plateau with a total of $3,011,636 earned by his progeny – again by a margin of five years. Wimpys Little Step joins NRHA legends Hollywood Dun It, Topsail Whiz, Smart Chic Olena, Shining Spark and Gallo Del Cielo in the three million dollar sire category.

Already an NRHA Hall of Fame inductee, his offspring at the recent High Roller Reining Classic helped him achieve this elite status in the NRHA record books. Wimp Daddy (out of Cody Kay Quixote and owned by Carlos Gonzalez) earned more than $11,600 and Show Me The Buckles (out of Sunset Whiz and owned by Rebeca Martin) racked up more than $6,200. Nearly a dozen of his offspring combined forces to earn the final few thousand dollars needed.

The 12-year-old stallion by Hall of Fame inductee and Million Dollar Sire Nu Chex To Cash and out of Leolita Step has an impressive show record himself, winning the 2002 NRHA Futurity and earning over $185,000 in just three NRHA competitions with current NRHA Four Million Dollar Rider Shawn Flarida. With only five performing foal crops, he has already proven his ability to pass his talent on to future generations. He is owned by Xtra Quarter Horses, LLC in Purcell, Okla. where he currently stands.

Wimpys Little Step
inducted into NRHA Hall of Fame
Wimpys Little Step, owned by Xtra Quarter Horse, Purcell, Oklahoma, continues his meteoric rise, first established in the show pen when he won the 2002 NRHA Futurity Open division. By NRHA Hall of Famer and Million Dollar Sire Nu Chex To Cash and out of the outstanding Leolita Step by Forty Seven, he was the talk of the Reining and performance horse worlds following his win.
In such demand by mare owners he went immediately to stand at stud. A wise choice it seems since he has already sired NRHA’s Highest Money Earning Horse, Wimpys Little Chic, who is out of Collena Chic Olena, one of the 2011 inductees.
As an NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire he continues to make history through his accomplishments in the breeding shed. Among his stellar performers: Yellow Jersey ($84,061), Wimpys Little Buddy ($202,245), RC Fancy Step ($343,801), Wimpys Little Chic ($516,460), and Wimpys Tonnob ($97,848) among others.
With a start like his, there is little doubt that this young sire’s prepotency will bode him well into future NRHA history books - NRHA
