Wimpys Little Step is quite simply a reining phenomenon. During his three year old year, this bionic stallion captured the interest of the reining industry when he won both the 2002 AQHA Congress Open Reining Futurity and the 2002 NRHA Open Futurity with Shawn Flarida in the saddle. In doing so, Wimpys Little Step earned over $185,000. He is only the second horse to win both the Congress and NRHA Open Futurities.
Wimpys Little Step has stepped up in a big way and, in just his first year as a breeding horse, has sired six NRHA Futurity Open finalists, including a Futurity Champion. The stand-out’s first foal crop produced 32 money-earning offspring, bringing in a combined $650,000+.
Wimpys Little Chic is on her way to making history. Only one horse has ever won the top three major reining events – the NRHA Futurity, NRBC and Derby – and no horse has ever won reining’s version of the Triple Crown in the same year. With one more horse show, a lot of luck and a great trainer at the reins, “Lexi” could do just that. No horse in NRHA history has ever won all three events with the same rider, so Flarida could certainly conquer another historical milestone with a win at the NRAH Derby at the end of June.
Wimpys Little Chic is owned by Arcese Quarter Horses USA, based in Weatherford, Texas and Italy, and was bred by Monica Watson of Double Run Farm in Leland, N.C. Watson also bred Wimpys Little Step.
RC Fancy Step won the All American Quarter Horse Congress Futurity, The Wimpys Little step Derby, took the Open Reserve Championship at the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic Futurity and made the NRHA Futurity Open finals.
Ridden by Shawn Flarida, RC Fancy Step is now owned by S. David Plummer of Buffalo Ranches.
Wimpys Little Buddy took place in the NRHA Futurity Open. The gelding won the Open Gelding award and has also won the Murieta Equine Complex Western Futurities Spectacular Reining and the Scottsdale Classic Futurity.
Dox Steppin Out was another NRHA Open Futurity finalist stallion, making the Inermediate Open finals.
Yellow Jersey also make the finals at the Open Futurity.
The stallion was also a finalist at the Southwest Reining Horse Association Futurity Open and the Tulsa Reining Classic.
